The Fundación Fernando Pombo has been invited to the first international meeting on implementation of the un guiding principles on business and human rights in Spain.
The General Director of Fundación Fernando Pombo, Carmen Pombo, with the academic advisor of the foundation, Ana María Ovejero, will participated in the PANEL 4: The implementation of Spain’s obligations in the area of business and human rights, speaking about “Business and Human Rights. The role of business lawyers”.
In view of the future National Plan of Business and Human Rights which is expected to be enacted in Spain in 2013, Fundación Fernando Pombo has developed a project on the role of business lawyers in assisting their multinational clients in human rights compliance.
The project consists on academic research activities, training and advisory actions, as well as raising awareness and dissemination endeavors, mostly oriented towards the legal profession, and more precisely to business lawyers. The objective is to close the gap between business lawyers and human rights lawyers, so that legal counsels of multinational companies are actually experienced in human rights compliance, in accordance with the UN Guiding Principles.
