Rule of Law and ODS<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n
We begin with the premise that the legal profession plays an essential role as a guarantor of the Rule of law and as a fundamental actor of Justice. The purpose of this line of work is to promote the involvement of the legal profession in the attainment of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), as part of its social function. Fundamentally, we work on SDG 16 \u201cPeace, Justice and Strong Institutions\u201d, whereby we specifically promote the Rule of Law and access to rights, whilst being aware that in this manner we shall also contribute to the attainment of other SDGs related to poverty and inequality.<\/h6>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>

CARMEN POMBO PROMOTES THE RULE OF LAW AT THE UNITED NATIONS<\/h3>[vc_empty_space height=”80px”][vc_single_image image=”23949″ img_size=”full” alignment=”right” css=”.vc_custom_1587229194331{padding-right: 5% !important;}”]<\/div><\/div><\/div>
During the \u201cWe the Peoples\u201d Award Dinner, the General Director of Fundaci\u00f3n Pombo stated that \u201cThe Rule of Law is essential for legal certainty, for business, for society, for peace and prosperity\u201d.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<\/div>

While in New York, Carmen Pombo delivered the award to the CEO of LexisNexis (FTSE Top 20 \u2013 RELX) for leadership exhibited in strengthening the Rule of Law. This award, bestowed by the UN Foundation, recognises people and organisations that carry out extraordinary work for the global community and work to advance the goals of the United Nations. Many distinguished people attended the act, including Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the UN, and Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland.<\/p>\n

The relationship between the Fundaci\u00f3n Fernando Pombo and LexisNexis goes back to its inception and includes significant and ongoing collaboration through the International Bar Association.<\/p>\n

The LexisNexis Rule of Law Foundation was recently created. \u201cI trust that we shall continue to collaborate with LexisNexis in projects that strengthen the Rule of Law and prove to be significant in changing the lives of those who are most vulnerable\u201d, added Carmen Pombo in her address.<\/p>\n

The Rule of Law is the basis for the development of peaceful, just and prosperous societies. Specifically, it encompasses the following four concepts, based on the separation of executive, legislative and judicial powers: equality under the law; public and transparent laws; independence of the Judiciary and access to means for redress.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>

IBA RULE OF LAW FORUM<\/b><\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n
We develop various initiatives aimed at strengthening the Rule of Law with the International Bar Association (IBA), the premier global organisation for the legal profession, which Fernando Pombo presided over in 2007 and 2008.<\/h6>\n
We are committed to the future of the profession, with the global path of the legal profession and with its position and impact.
